Every two years, the community working on animal cell culture in Latin America meets to present results and find collaborators. Research groups, production laboratories and companies from the sector all take part. This is the eleventh edition since 2004.

Trajectory

The reference symposium in Latin America

Twenty-two years of meetings, in eight different countries.

SLATCC is Latin America's main meeting on cell culture technology and bioprocessing. Since 2004 it has been held in eight countries and has brought together the groups that sustain the region's pharmaceutical biotechnology, with invited speakers from Europe, the United States and elsewhere. Each edition is hosted by a different group, and that rotation is what has woven the network together.

CATCC course

Latin American Course on Cell Culture Technology

2 – 5 November 2026

After the symposium comes the CATCC course, both theory and practice, at the Institute of Biotechnology. It covers cell line handling, medium design, culture monitoring and scale-up, with bench time alongside the theory sessions.

Theory
Open to everyone registered for the course.
Hands-on lab
Limited places. Admission is by letter of motivation, subject to review and approval by the committee.
What the fee covers
Meals, Coffee Breaks and working materials for all four days. The hands-on format also covers the laboratory materials for the three practical sessions.

The Institute of Biotechnology of the National Autonomous University of Mexico is located in Cuernavaca, Morelos, a little over an hour from Mexico City. It is one of the most established biotechnology research centres in Latin America, with auditoriums, laboratories and a pilot plant available for the symposium and the course.
