About SLATCC
For more than two decades, the Latin American Symposium on Cell Culture Technology has been the meeting point for those working with animal, plant and insect cells across the region. Each edition moves to a different host institution and country, widening the network of laboratories, research groups and companies doing biotechnology in Latin America.
Aim of this edition
To foster scientific exchange and build collaboration networks among researchers, students, companies and biotechnology organisations working on cell culture and bioprocessing.
Who it is for
- Undergraduate and graduate students in biotechnology, biology, chemistry and engineering.
- Researchers in cell culture, bioprocessing and molecular biology.
- Academic technicians and laboratory or pilot-plant staff.
- Biotechnology, pharmaceutical, supply and analytical-services companies.
Topic areas
Abstracts are submitted to one of the following areas. The committee may reassign them to balance the sessions.
- Cell line engineering
- Bioprocessing and scale-up
- Culture media and cell metabolism
- Vaccines and biologics
- Cell and gene therapies
- Recombinant proteins and antibodies
- Process analytics, modelling and control
- Plant and insect cell culture
- Cellular agriculture and food
- Quality, biosafety and regulatory affairs
Planned structure
- Keynote lectures by invited researchers from Latin America and beyond.
- Oral presentation sessions selected from the submitted abstracts.
- Poster sessions with direct discussion between authors and attendees.
- A meeting space with biotechnology, supply and service companies.
- Networking activities to build collaborations between groups across the region.

CATCC 2026
Latin American Course on Cell Culture Technology
2 – 5 November 2026
Right after the symposium closes, the CATCC runs as a hands-on course at the Institute of Biotechnology. It is designed for those who want bench technique alongside the literature: cell line handling, media design, culture monitoring and scale-up.
Venue
Institute of Biotechnology, UNAM
The Institute of Biotechnology of the National Autonomous University of Mexico is located in Cuernavaca, Morelos, a little over an hour from Mexico City. It is one of the most established biotechnology research centres in Latin America, with auditoriums, laboratories and a pilot plant available for the symposium and the course.
